Faith Ann Bosco

My previous experiences have allowed me to develop crucial skills and intellect that would make an ideal candidate as a professional educator in your school.  As educators, we have the rare honor to impact the lives of our students each and every day.  My past experiences have instilled within me a deep understanding of the impact I can have on the future generation.  I believe I have invested in and gained the needed education, experiences, and knowledge to become an essential part of your school’s team of educators.

I have had many vast and unique experiences that have lead me to work in some of the most privileged students in the greater surrounding area of Pittsburgh, PA.   At the same time my opportunities have given me the chance to see life through some of the poorest eyes in the world.  The contrast of the two have enabled me to create a concrete understanding of the importance of the education for our youth.  Education is the key that can unlock a whole new world to so many young minds.  I believe and have come to know that it has that immense power.  I would like to partner with schools that I believe are determined to not just educate students but to open up a world to a new generation.

As an educator for the past eight years, I have further developed my theories and understandings of my teaching methods.  I am a strong believe in discovery learning; I love to give a child a topic and let them explore the world around them.  Additionally, I implement a great deal of project based learning methods into my classroom.  My students would note that projects are a staple in our learning.  I often find that creating a project builds content learning, critical thinking skills, peer cooperation, and creativity.  Finally, I am a implement student-lead learning within my classroom. My lessons rarely take the perspective of lecture based teaching; though there is a time and a place for that.  More often than not, I am a jumping point for my students to facilitate their own learning. This at times take the view of a flipped classroom, peer-based tutoring, and a multitude of centers.

As a dance educator, I believe strongly in the power of the arts within the life of a child. I believe in the athletic strength and artistic creativity needed to be a true dancer. My belief is to foster a child's talent through technique, cross-training, and core dance history. It is also my goal to allow a child to find their own voice and viewpoint to become a true artist.

When I was 15 years old I went on my first humanitarian relief trip.  At that time I went to San Luis, Mexico, where I stayed on an orphanage compound.  The trip actions also entailed bringing food to local shut-in community members, aiding and assisting for a day in a home for the blind, and bringing food to those living in a local garbage dump.  The next year at 16 years I attended the exact same trip to San Luis.  Two years after that at 18 years old I lived for the duration of a summer in an orphanage in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. There I worked with the girls who live at the home, and worked as their summer activities coordinator.  The following year I attended a trip to Honduras.  For this trip I worked with C.A.R.E. (Central American Relief Efforts), setting up local medical clinics in Southern Honduras.  I was trained in very basic medical procedures including taking blood pressure, giving a simple eye exam, and pulling teeth.  At 20 years old I then created my own trip where I led a team back to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.  Where the team put on a Biblical Dance Camp.  The girls got to learn technique and movement as well as instruction in being a Godly woman.  These experiences have allowed me to have a very unique exposure to the need of education in our world.  I have been able to work with some of the poorest in the world, and through that I have seen the extreme need for education.  Education has the ability to offer a tangible hope to students around the world, hope at a future and better life.  It has the power to open up doors to children that cannot be open by anything else in the world.  I want to instill in my students especially within the states a love and appreciation for learning.
